About

Founded in 1994, the Cambridge University Association of British And Chinese University Students is the original chapter of ABACUS which has spread to universities across the UK; including London (made up of: UAL, Brunel, City, Goldsmiths, ICL, KCL, LSE, Queen Mary, SOAS, & UCL), Kent, Nottingham, Southampton, Surrey,  and Warwick (for information about ABACUS near you, click here).  There is also an Asia-Pacific Society in Oxford!

ABACUS is not just for Chinese students! We are an incredibly welcoming society that prides itself on inclusivity, and our aim is to promote and celebrate Chinese culture in Britain. To this end, ABACUS runs weekly events that centre on socialising, meeting new people and having a good time.  We run several special events throughout the year, including the ABACUS Boat Party on the River Thames (an event we hold annually in collaboration with the Oxford University Asia-Pacific Society), Funkyard (the biggest Oriental club-night in Cambridge), and the May Week Garden Party. We also hold a number of smaller events such as formals, dim sum and karaoke nights. There’s plenty to look forward to!

We strongly encourage you to come to one of our events and become a part of our community here in Cambridge!
