Hi I’m Sunho and I’m excited to work with the ABACUS committee for 2020-21!
ABACUS is one of the largest Asian cultural societies at Cambridge, and we aim to celebrate Cambridge’s rich cultural diversity and bridge any cultural gaps through various social events.
Personally, ABACUS is also where I met my best friends, and it is the place where I can relax and feel welcomed. I found my home at ABACUS, and so will you.
Founded in 1994, the Cambridge University Association of British and Chinese University Students is an inclusive society that celebrates the marriage of eastern and western culture.
We are an incredibly welcoming society that prides itself on inclusivity, and our aim is to promote and celebrate our Asian heritage in Britain. To this end, ABACUS runs weekly events that centre on socialising, meeting new people and having a good time. We run several special events throughout the year, including the ABACUS Boat Party on the River Thames (an event we hold annually in collaboration with the Oxford University Asia-Pacific Society), Funkyard (the biggest Oriental club-night in Cambridge), and the May Week Garden Party. We also hold a number of smaller events such as formals, dim sum and karaoke nights. There’s plenty to look forward to!
